'93 LINCOLN MARK VIII

We were recruited by Andy Noseworthy to build something a little different for his Lincoln.  It had to be loud, pretty and above all sound great.  Andy was a sales rep for SCL Products a few years ago, the Canadian Distributor for MTX, Stinger, Autopage, Whistler, Boss Audio, Xtant, Tiger Alarms & Remote Starters and Zurich Extended Warranties.  So this car will be a daily driver and will have to be run for many hours at a time.  Not that sales people ever do any driving to far away places!!!

First we installed a 240 amp battery isolator up front to feed the factory battery and the new Stinger gel battery in the rear for the stereo system.  Our fuse holder to the rear battery was hidden in the headlight adjustment compartment under the hood with a 150 amp ANL Fuse.  The head unit of choice was the "Features From Hell" Pioneer DEXP1.  I have one of these decks in my Riviera and its unbelievable.  If you own of those decks you must to read the manual before you start driving.  The deck was then routed through 3 sets of Stinger's Dream Series 8.3 mm balanced RCA's to the MTX amplifiers.  One MTX Thunder 4300X 4 x 37.5 watt to run all the high frequencies and the "BRUTE" Thunder 2300X 2 x 150 watt running mono to the 3 - 12" 12 Ohm Thunder 5000 subs.   We decided to put the Thunder 5000 tweeters high in the door.   We may be changed to tweeter modules at the corners of the post & front window in the future.  The Thunder 5000 6.5" speakers were mounted in the factory locations of the front doors.   The second set of T5000 6.5" were placed in the rear replacing the factory mid tweeter combo with a mounting panel.  With the versatility of the Pioneer DEXP1 we thought we may be able to get away with the tweeters in the doors.  The digital time alignment adjustments make this possible.  We built a 3 piece subwoofer enclosure with a very strong brace to house the 3 - 12" T51212 subwoofers.  The enclosure volume is 4.5 cubic feet for the 3 subs.  We had to push the tuning frequency down to 29 hz to try to flatten out the box curve.  They are wired parallel to a 4 ohm mono load on the 2300X amplifier.   This box is so loud it is its own loudness control.  If the radio is cranked you cannot drive, cause you can't see straight.  Eyes have a tendency of bouncing alot.  Then in the rear we wanted a different look.  With size of the Pioneer CDXP5000 50 + 1 changer we decided to give the car a muscle car tubbed look.  The changer was mounted on the right side of the trunk.  Curved panels were constructed to match the curve of the trunk lid.  Then to make the car look even the same style of panel was made for the left side to house a Stinger Gel Battery, Stiffening Cap and Fuse Block for the battery.  All interconnects used throughout the car were Stinger.   Dampening material was installed as well to cut down the little bit of road noise that was still evident.  This car was very quiet to start with.  We applied dampening material to both doors as well as the side panels, rear quarters, rear shelf etc.

It looks tubbed The Tubbed Lincoln Ya tubbed with sound!
